Officially sick. Just went to see Doc. Chong at Damai.
What happened?
On 24 Nov 2011, I undergo braces installation lower part. Before this on 8 Aug 2011, my first upper part braces installation was super pain process as the mouth and teeth adjusting to the new forces apply to it. I always in pain for almost one week. I was able to use my teeth after one month. I was told by a pharmacist that I shouldn't just bear it like that, the pain. So I was introduced to a pain killer that was suited for dental pain. Nurofen ( Ibuprofen) 400mg. I tried few times before for normal braces adjustment when I can feel the pain. I remembered only took for one day 3 max pills and I was not in pain anymore the next day.
What went wrong was, to avoid the hell pain I knew I'm going to get from this braces installation. I ate my first pill at night and found out it wasn't working, I still can feel the pounding pain. The med only kicks in after 3 hours. So I took one before sleep. The next day, I ate again the med. As I checked the instruction labels, I found out I can take as much as 6 pills perday 6 x 400mg up to 2400mg per day. So, I took the max doses, with only 3 meals normal routine. I even end up less than 4 hours to repeat take the pill as I worry about can't subdue the pain and late for the meds to take effects.
Then, I found out I was always hungry. I also feel stomach pain which I thought was from the menstrual pain I was having. I even wake up at midnight to go toilet.
I finally stopped taking the Ibuprofen after 5 days. I found out my teeth wasn't in big pain anymore. Then, I still always feeling hungry. I thought I was just a normal after effects. Then stomach pain started to become stronger each time.
As I asked my friend at facebook, I found out Ibuprofen was a risky pain killer to take. I quickly do my research about it. I found out it could cause bleeding and ulcer. Or worst, hole in stomach or intestine. There's a saying that milk helps to soothe the stomach. So drank milk for more than 3 days. Then today, I was still in terrible stomach pain. I checked internet says, milk will caused more stomach acid, causing more pain for the bleeding part.
Finally, my stomach was in sharp pain that I decide to see doctor although the net say I shall seek for doctor if persist up to 10 days...luckily i didn't. Even I waited for so many days to see doc, doc was angry for I didn't seek treatment earlier.
Now, I understand even the label says such thing, my asian stomach wasn't built to have such heavy doses. I was consider overdoses. Now with new meds to lessen the stomach acid to wait for the stomach to heal itself. Finally, I feel better at this moment to write this.
Lesson learned: Always check clearly what kind of medication could cause especially bought from counter before popping into mouth. Seek help immediately if something is feeling very wrong.
